The idea for “Infinite Conversations” includes two parts:
1) a podcast network, with multiple shows and hosts.
2) a modern discussion forum that ties together all the other parts of the Theory of Everybody project, so diverse conversations can happen in one place, where they can cross-pollinate and nourish each other.
This second piece is in some ways the nexus of the whole project, since discussions relating to not only the podcast, but also the journal, book club, and blog will all happen here.
If Facebook is currently the bustling online “central square” of the online world, where so much sharing and interaction happens, Infinite Conversations intends to be something more like an intimate, artsy coffee shop, a few blocks away from the the main plaza…a place where conversations can unfold more focus and care over time.
The discussion platform will use the open-source Discourse platform. This is not an old-school forum, but the newest, latest development in forum technology. The forum will be open for beta testing soon, so get in touch if you’d like to take part.
We’ve recorded the first episode of the Infinite Conversations podcast (with other shows in development), which you can preview below. It’s a rough cut, and sound quality is not the best, but we hope it gives at least an inkling of what’s to come. Enjoy!
